I work primarily in watercolor on paper, oil on canvas, and assemblage. My preferred subjects are large endangered animals, particularly the African savanna elephant and the white rhinoceros. Their immense scale provides a natural balance to the bold color palettes and expressive blends that characterize my work.
When I paint, I become absorbed in the powerful sense of presence these animals possess. Through color, texture, and form, I strive to convey that same feeling on paper and canvas while drawing attention to their vulnerability and importance.
My artistic practice is deeply influenced by a lifelong commitment to Buddhist meditation. This discipline helps quiet the distractions of the mind, creating space for creative intention, focused observation, and authentic expression.
